Hi, my name is Jason Asidi. I’m a mid-level gameplay and systems designer. My passion lies in building gameplay systems that feed into each other to reinforce a central narrative feel. My favorite genre is strategy games—some of my all-time favorites include XCOM 2, Darkest Dungeon, Slay the Spire, and Into the Breach. I also play a lot of tabletop games, including Warhammer 40,000, The Horus Heresy: Age of Darkness, and Kingdom Death: Monster.

I became interested in game design at a young age, starting with making toys and games for my younger brother and myself when we didn’t have the opportunity to buy the real thing. Those early games were often derivative and nonsensical, but they instilled in me a love for creating and designing the kinds of experiences I wanted to see and play. Even now, a big part of why I love modding is the satisfaction of leaving my mark on a game and tweaking it to better fit my preferences. At the same time, making and playing games with my brother taught me how rewarding it is to watch other people interact with something I’ve created, and it helped me learn how to accept feedback and recognize when something just isn’t working and needs to change.

Outside of professional development, I’ve created a substantial number of mods for Darkest Dungeon, and I enjoy both designing tabletop games from the ground up and modifying existing ones—often using Tabletop Simulator as my playground for experimentation.
